Eligibility for CDS
The Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam is for candidates aspiring to join the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force through the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Naval Academy (NA), and Officers’ Training Academy (OTA). The eligibility criteria are as follows:
1. Age Limit:
- For IMA: 19 to 24 years.
- For AFA: 19 to 24 years.
- For NA: 19 to 24 years.
- For OTA: 19 to 25 years.
2. Educational Qualification:
- For IMA and OTA: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- For AFA: A bachelor's degree with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level or a bachelor's in engineering.
- For NA: A bachelor's degree in engineering.
3. Physical Fitness:
- Candidates must meet the medical and physical standards set by the respective academies.
4. Nationality:
- Candidates must be Indian nationals or subjects of Nepal or Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962.
5. Gender:
- Male candidates are eligible for all academies.
- Female candidates can apply only for OTA.
